How much does international shipping cost?
There is no single price list: every shipment is priced on its own details. The shipping cost calculator works out the rate for your parcel from these four things:
- Weight, in kg
- Dimensions, length × width × height in cm
- Destination, the country and postcode you ship to
- Service, for example express or economy
Enter them once and you see the rates and delivery times of FedEx, DHL, UPS, TNT and DPD side by side. You don't need an account for that.
Why the calculator asks for dimensions
Carriers charge on the actual weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Volumetric weight is worked out from the dimensions in centimetres, so a large but light box can cost more than its weight suggests. The calculator does this for you. Shipping something big? Is VAT included in the shipping rate?
Within the European Union, 21% VAT is charged on the shipping costs. Businesses can reclaim it in their VAT return. For a shipment to a country outside the EU, such as the US, you pay 0% VAT on the shipping costs.
Import duties and customs outside the EU
Within the EU there are no import duties. Outside the EU, customs in the destination country can charge import duties and VAT on the goods. These are normally paid by the recipient (DAP). As a business you can also choose to pay them yourself (DDP). Want to know more first? See our guide to import duties.
For a parcel to or from a country outside the EU you need a customs invoice. When you book with ParcelParcel, it is made automatically from what you enter. Documents without commercial value don't need one. More on this in what a commercial invoice is.
When is my parcel collected?
Book on a working day in good time and your shipment is often collected the same day. You choose the pick-up day yourself when you book.
