ParcelParcel MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants compare carrier rates, estimate import duties, book shipments, generate labels and track parcels through the ParcelParcel platform. It is free to use, authenticates with OAuth against your existing ParcelParcel account, and is currently in public beta.
Instead of opening a shipping platform, typing addresses and comparing quotes by hand, you describe what you need in plain language and your assistant does the rest. Whether you move pallets within Europe every day or send express parcels to the US, the MCP server brings international parcel shipping into the tools your team already works in.

What is the ParcelParcel Model Context Protocol (MCP) server?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard, created by Anthropic, that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data. The ParcelParcel MCP server implements that standard, so an AI agent can call ParcelParcel's logistics operations directly and securely instead of you building middleware around our REST API.
What the MCP server can do
| Capability | What it does | Type |
|---|
| Rate comparison | Compare live rates and transit times across carriers for a given route, weight and dimensions | Read |
| Duty estimation | Estimate import duties and VAT for a destination, HS code and Incoterm | Read |
| Draft shipments | Prepare a shipment without booking it | Write |
| Booking and pickup | Confirm a shipment and schedule a collection | Write (billable) |
| Documents | Retrieve shipping labels and commercial invoices | Read |
| Tracking | Return the current status of a shipment | Read |
| Shipment history | Find and list your earlier shipments | Read |
Duty and VAT figures are estimates based on published tariff data and are not a customs assessment. Final amounts are determined by the customs authority in the destination country. See our guidance on customs duty clearance and import duties.

Connect ParcelParcel MCP to Claude
Custom connectors using remote MCP are available on Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop for Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. Once added, the connector is also usable in the Claude mobile apps.
Pro, Max and Free plans
- In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
- Click +, then Add custom connector.
- Enter the server URL:
https://services.parcelparcel.com/mcp - Click Add, then Connect and sign in with your ParcelParcel credentials to authorise the connection.
- Enable the connector in a conversation from the + menu in chat. Adding a connector does not switch it on in every chat automatically.
Team and Enterprise plans
An Owner must add the connector for the organisation first, under Organization settings > Connectors > Add > Custom > Web. Individual members cannot add it themselves. Once done, each member goes to Customize > Connectors, finds the ParcelParcel connector and clicks Connect to authenticate with their own account.
Security tip for teams: Claude lets you set each action to Always Allow, Needs Approval or Never Allow. Set the booking action to Needs Approval so Claude always asks you to confirm before a shipment is actually booked.
Network requirement
Remote connectors are brokered through Anthropic's cloud, not from the user's own machine — this is true even in Claude Desktop and Cowork. If your organisation proxies outbound AI traffic, no change is needed on your side.
Connect ParcelParcel MCP to ChatGPT
You need to enable Developer mode in ChatGPT first — without it you cannot add a custom connector.
- Click your workspace in the bottom left and open Settings.
- Go to Security and login.
- Turn on the Developer mode toggle. ChatGPT shows an "elevated risk" warning; this is normal for custom connectors.
- Go to Plugins / Connectors.
- Click New plugin / Add connector and fill in:
- Name: ParcelParcel
- Connection: Server URL
- URL:
https://services.parcelparcel.com/mcp - Authentication: OAuth
- Tick "I understand and want to continue" and click Create.
- Click Connect > Sign in with ParcelParcel and log in with your ParcelParcel account.
- Click Approve to grant access.
Then try asking: "Where is my latest shipment?"
Other MCP clients
Any MCP-compatible client can connect to the same URL, including Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. Point the client at https://services.parcelparcel.com/mcp and complete the OAuth flow.
Example prompts for B2B exporters
- "Compare express and economy rates for a 15 kg B2B shipment of machine parts from Rotterdam to Chicago, zip code 60601."
- "Create a draft shipment for a pallet to Munich and give me the estimated transit time."
- "Estimate the customs costs and import duties on textile samples to the United Kingdom shipped DDP."
- "Where is our latest shipment to Singapore right now?"
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the ParcelParcel API and the MCP server?
The REST API requires you to write integration code to connect it to an ERP or webshop. The MCP server exposes the same operations as standardised tools that a large language model can call on its own inside a chat interface, so you do not need to build middleware. Developers integrating ParcelParcel into their own software should still use the REST API.
Will the AI book shipments without my knowledge?
No. Authentication and execution stay under your control, and the connector's tool permissions let you require manual approval for any action that incurs a cost, such as confirming a booking.
Does the MCP server cost anything?
No. Using the ParcelParcel MCP server is free. You pay only the standard shipping rates for the parcels or pallets you send.
Which carriers does the MCP server support?
The MCP server exposes ParcelParcel's full carrier network: DHL Express, FedEx, TNT, DPD, DSV and Skynet — express and road carriers covering more than 220 countries.
Do I need a ParcelParcel account?
Yes. The server authenticates against your existing account. Register for free if you do not have one yet.
