DHL vs DHL Express: what's the difference?
What is the difference between DHL and DHL Express? DHL is an international carrier, and DHL Express is one of its divisions. What is DHL?
DHL is a global company made up of several divisions:
- DHL Express: DHL's international express division, delivering parcels and documents in more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.
- DHL Global Forwarding: DHL's air and sea freight division, offering a full range of freight services, including worldwide freight shipments, customs clearance and logistics solutions.
- DHL Supply Chain: DHL's supply chain management division, providing logistics solutions for businesses in sectors such as automotive, consumer goods and healthcare.
- DHL eCommerce: the division for e-commerce solutions, including fulfilment services, cross-border delivery and returns management.
- DHL Freight: the division for road transport of heavy goods and loads within Europe.
- DHL Parcel: the division that delivers parcels and documents within Europe, mainly for business customers.
Together, these divisions cover the full range of logistics services, from international express delivery to supply chain management and road transport.
DHL Express vs DHL Parcel
DHL Parcel offers standard international and domestic parcel services for business and private customers. DHL Express, as the name says, offers express shipments: fast delivery by courier. DHL Express uses its own network and its own customs department to keep shipments moving, with its own vans, trucks, aircraft and people. That network is why your parcel arrives quickly: a document to the United States, for example, can be delivered within 24 hours. For time-critical shipments DHL offers DHL Express end of day delivery (delivery by the end of the working day), DHL Express 12:00, DHL Express 10:30 (USA) and DHL Express 09:00.
